R'Kids is a student run organization made up of parenting students and allies at University of California, Riverside. We are asking the university administration to provide support for a Parenting Resource Center on Campus for parenting students and our children. There is a growing number of student parents on campus who are unable to meet the basic needs for their families. The campus lacks support for parenting students in nearly every aspect, from housing to food insecurity to childcare. Many of these students are often first generation, low income, non traditional transfer students who face academic barriers  in addition to the responsibilities of being a parent. A Parenting Resource Center would help provide a study area and community space for a growing number of marginalized UCR students. We can grow to establish child care, basic needs support, and crisis intervention focused on parenting students.  R'Kids has a plan to fund and run the center but cannot do it without the support of the UCR administration.
