Hello everyone,

At the University of California, San Diego, 3,500 students of Eleanor Roosevelt College are required to complete a 5-quarter Making of the Modern World Sequence. As a student in my fourth quarter of this sequence, half of my classes have had "readers" where scanned texts are printed into a book, that are approximately 350 pages or longer. These texts are updated and reprinted every quarter and they are a requirement for the class.

By signing this petition, you are helping to support my MMW 14 class of more than 300 people save more than 105, 600 pages of paper. You will also be helping more than 300 other students in MMW 12 save more than 114, 000 pages of paper.

Given the extreme amount of waste associated with printing and reprinting readers each quarter, such as the chemicals associated with ink and printing, water usage, and carbon emissions, we ask that the department of Making of the Modern World consider its environmental responsibility, and allow the students of Eleanor Roosevelt College to obtain a pdf version of this reader.

Thank you so much for your consideration of this petition,

Ellie Flint
