The UC system has a long history of giving no consideration or showing no real care for students. This pandemic has been hard for everyone, the UC system claims to care, provide, and support students, but instead feed off of our debt. They feed off of our financial struggles, pile onto our mental stresses. As of 1/6/22 UCSC students (along with students from some others as well) received news that our 2 week remote learning period has turned to 4. This email did not mention any refund indicating that we will be paying full price for a half effort education. The email also indicated that those students who have not arrived back to campus (which has been many due to having covid, or taking an extra week at home due to the previous two week remote learning period) must postpone arrival (EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE ALL PAID TO LIVE THERE AND THIS MONEY IS GOING TO WASTE SINCE WE ARE BEING ADVISED TO NOT RETURN) until further notice. Support for this petition can have a huge benefit for all UC students’ finances to further support their educations.
