I love in Bangladesh, but am originally from Cheshire, CT. As an American and as a parent, I am truly offended that a teacher had labeled groups as terrorist because of the message they are spreading.

As a Muslim, this blatant prejudice is ridiculous, and anger inducing. How dare anyone, especially somebody who is given authority in academia, be allowed to spew such uneducated disgusting claims? Honestly, I'm quite repulsed and frankly just tired of wide spread Islamophobia. It's like living in an era where you're so wholly opressed and resented without anyone DOING anything about it. While gay rights and feminism and civil rights take their rightful place on stage, demanding change, Muslims remain hurt by injustice without anyone changing it or bringing any attention to it. I'm a seventeen year old girl who has grown up with so much resentment around me that I am very much jaded and tired of feeling this way. We are not supposed to get angry, our religion is about peace. But I'm still a teenager, and I am angry. I am angry that I have had to go my entire life deflecting claims that are unjust and untrue. I am tired of the fact that other Muslims my age pretend to be something that they're not just to get some relief from bullies and not just their peers, adults. The administration in MY school is horrible to me because of who I am and they think it's wrong that I don't try to hide it; that I'm proud of who I am. I can't believe it can be like that in college too. Especially in a place as liberal as California, you can bet I'm not applying to UCSC. Anyway, people like this don't deserve a voice. Be as radical as you want; but don't be fucking stupid.

This is appalling! Smearing UC students, associating them first with anti-Semitism and then terrorism on the basis of ethnic and religious affiliation should be condemned to the fullest and she should be fired immediately! My question is this: what would have happened if a Muslim staff in the UC system made such remarks about Jewish students on the campus?

Hate speech, racism and discrimination of any kind has no place in society; most definitely not an institution of higher learning. We need more inclusiveness, more open mindedness - hate begets hate.

As a 25 year resident of Santa Cruz and a 79 year old proud Jewish man who has experienced anti-Semitism at knife point and with blows shile supporting the birth years of Israel, I am ashamed for the university that a person who expresses such anti-Arab and anti-Muslim racist hatred is on the faculty.
