Catered Accomodation Halls in Stoke Bishop have told students to stay at home, highly discouraging them to come to the place that they pay rent and pay for daily meals. The administration staff have made it very clear that they are unhappy that students are here at all. PEOPLE WHO ARE BEING TOLD NOT TO COME BACK TO CAMPUS ARE BEING CHARGED FOR MEALS THAT THEY CANNOT RECIEVE.

Despite promising "1 hot breakfast and 1 hot meal a day" in our contracts, they have now decided to only feed us 1 hot meal every 2 days, and no hot breakfasts. The remaining food given to us will be frozen or one meals (the same as quarantine) and do not come close to costing the amount that we pay for food.

Furthermore, some halls have higher food payments per week to receive a higher quality food service, yet everyone has been served the same food as the rest of Stoke Bishop catered accommodation since early December.

WE PROPOSE MEAL SERVICES TO STOP DURING THE LOCKDOWN INSTEAD OF RUNNING ON THE REDUCED SERVICE, AND DEMAND A FULL REFUND OF MEALS FOR STUDENTS DURING THIS TIME.

The benefits of this are:

- you will not have to pay for meals that you aren't receiving if you are stuck at home

- you will receive up to £56 a week back

- you will be able to spend this money however you like and can choose what you eat, cook or buy from the supermarket or takeaway

- the kitchen staff are safer and do not have to risk their lives working in a lockdown

- less food wastage, as people have choice over what they eat instead of throwing away the frozen /onemeals they give us for breakfast + lunch everyday and dinner every second day

- the Government furlough scheme would cover the meal service employees so the university would actually be saving money on their wages !
