Ellen Clark started this petition to University of Brighton and

Last year, the 2019/20 students at the University of Brighton were granted a "No Detriment" policy which included a "Performance Benchmarking" system to protect their grades and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then, the new year of 2020/21 students have been studying since October 2020 and have now seen two national lockdowns and varied tier systems in place since then and we are still only in our first semester.

We have not as of yet been offered the same treatment as last year's students and have not been granted a "No Detriment" policy, only a "No Detriment Phase 2" policy which doesn't protect our grades with performance benchmarking, it just allows us more chances to re-take.

Majority of our studies have been conducted online with limited access to facilties and the ability to bounce our learning off of our peers. Our circumstances aren't much better than those of the students last year.

Not only that, but the state of the pandemic has had a significant impact on the lives and mental health of many around the country. Students are not exempt from this natural human reaction. One can't ignore that the pandemic is affecting our education massively, regardless of the University's great efforts to maintain quality of teaching.

With the very uncertain months ahead, it would be paramount for the well-being of the University of Brighton students to be safe in the knowledge that they will not fail this year because of the repercussions of this vicious virus.

Please sign and share if you can to get this message across to the University Board and Vice Chancellor.
