Part time students deserve a Graduation ceremony!!!!

Javariah Sohail started this petition to University Of Bedfordshire (University of Bedfordshire)

After studying part-time to gain a bachelor’s with honours in Applied Education Studies with the University of Bedfordshire for 4 years whilst working full time, plus looking after our families and taking care of other responsibilities. We are being robbed off our well-deserved and well- earned graduation ceremony. The university has decided to hold a ‘virtual ceremony’ followed by a ‘get together’ of some sorts later on in the year. This is a completely underwhelming and extremely impersonal replacement for a proper graduation ceremony which is the culmination of 4 years of hard work and dedication towards attaining a degree.

Moreover, the timing of the ceremony couldn’t be more inconvenient. It is planned to take place in the first week of September, when most of my fellow students, including myself, will be starting our initial teacher training.

I encourage all students, full or part-time, to sign this petition as we are being denied an appropriate send off before starting the next chapter in our lives.  The university should hold a full graduation ceremony for the students of the cohort 2020, when COVID-19 no longer poses a threat.

I encourage you to share this petition with as many students as possible, to ensure that the University of Bedfordshire re-examines it’s decision to review the graduation ceremony that we all are entitled to!

Thank you.
