Climate change is one of the biggest threats we face and it’s not someone else’s problem it’s ours. It’s not just about not using plastic bags or turning the lights off when not in use. It’s about attitude, a shift in thinking. About feeling responsible to my communities locally and globally. That’s why I am trying to make a change to my local community, by calling on my university, the University of the Arts London, to switch to 100% green energy.

Institutions are responsible for a lot of energy compared to the average family home. Our actions over the next 10 years are crucial for planet. If we want to make big changes fast - it's large institutions we need on side.

Vivienne Westwood’s Switch Campaign appealing to students to switch to 100% green energy inspired me to start this project. As a poor art student unable to pay the extra costs of switching to green energy at home I started to think about my university and who supplies the energy. Was it 100% green? So I wrote to the head of sustainability at the University of the Arts, London to find out and if we weren’t being powered by 100% green energy when could we? I even offered my time unpaid to assist with a change.

UAL have said they care about sustainability and the environment - so it would be amazing if they were one of the first universities to make the switch and to start making a difference.
