Put More Emergency Poles on the University of Arkansas Campus
As a freshman at the University of Arkansas, I've discovered that there are a lot less emergency poles on campus than I believe there should be. There have already been too many instances of somebody on campus coming into harm's way since the beginning of the year - one incident is one too many. However, I believe this problem is exacerbated by the lack of emergency poles on campus. I've only seen about 4-5 emergency poles on campus during my time here, and many of those are only located in parking garages. Obviously, having them in a parking garage is great, but not having them in more accessible areas makes it harder for those in danger reach authorities. No matter how small the threat may seem, I believe that everyone should feel safe on campus and have fast access to help, no matter where they are located on campus. There are many places where it is extremely dark at night, which makes it even more dangerous when there are people who can simply follow you without you noticing. I believe that the campus is currently not as safe as it could be due to the lack of emergency poles, which can lead to more danger.
