Students of the University of Amsterdam are asking to be given the opportunity to write our final exams (and potentially resit exams in January) online. Or at least that we are given the option to either write them on campus or write them online (as is the case for numerous other courses).

Students at UvA feel uncomfortable and unsafe writing exams on campus due to the increasing number of covid cases in the Netherlands. The vast majority of students (who are vaccinated) are approaching our 6-month deadline following our second dose and can expect our immunities to be lower. Additionally, there is a new variant already present in the Netherlands that has been designated as a variant of concern.

It should also be noted that in the majority of cases covid is equivalent to a resit, which encourages students to not self-test and potentially not disclose positive covid tests so that they do not lose their chance at a resit.

The resources to provide an online examination are already given: students have been taking proctored exams for over a year now. Teachers at the university are capable of correcting online exams. Not to mention that the vast majority of exams are later on converted into an online environment, if not already taken in one. For example Test vision or Ans Delft.
