Bonuses are awarded to presidents of universities, who are outstanding in fund raising and bring in millions to billions of dollars to the university, which strengthens education, research and service. Examples of such presidents in universities in the lower forty-eight states abound.

The money could pay 16 graduate teaching assistants instead of one bonus

This is taking money away from school programs and or teachers salaries. This type of a bonus is this economy is ludicrous.

How dare you cut funding for staff and services at a time when UAF is facing budget constraints, yet you are able to come up with a $380,000.00 bonus for the UA president. SHAME ON YOU!

UA President Gamble should not be given a bonus during a period of multi-year budget cuts to all three campuses that are directly affecting students and resources, staff and faculty. The BOR reasons for the bonus do not hold water; President Gamble is paid a handsome salary and given other benefits to do his job. Had he performed better, UA would not be in such a considerable financial deficit. As someone else comment the BOR bonus decision reflects wrong timing, wrong decision, wrong precedent, wrong direction.

I am appalled and outraged by this misuse of funds. This bonus is more than 5X the yearly salary of many a hardworking, tenured professor at UAA. Please start putting students and education before offensive bonuses.

This decision does not make sense in light of the performance of this UA President and the present budget shortfall. I can see no reason to reward such mediocrity.

As a widow of a University of Alaska alum, I continue to support the University Museum, UAF Annual Fund, Athletics and Alumni Association.

If President Gamble is doing such a good job why do I not see him at University Athletic and Cultural events nor around town and in the media.

I wish he were doing a better job at avoiding such drastic cuts that diminish the University's ability to educate its students.

The bonus for a position that already is overpaid while adjunct professors earn poverty wages is a disgrace and an insult to the people of Alaska.
