Concerned Student started this petition to University of Alabama

This petition is respectfully calling on the University of Alabama (UA) to cancel their mask mandate they announced today.

UA should follow the state of Alabama’s stance on masks, and not have a mandate. The University should allow students the freedom to make the decision they think is best for their health.

The infringement of rights since March 2020, such as limiting: travel, socialization, business, etc. have been more than enough. We’ve gone through not being allowed to travel, eat inside, go to a friend’s house, quarantine, social isolation, online class, masks, sentinel testing, COVID questionnaires, and countless other things. Those who want to live a life normally should not have their rights suppressed any longer. COVID restrictions shouldn’t be moved around and changed like it’s without repercussion. This is people’s lives that are being changed.

UA should set a positive example on the side of allowing individuals to have personal liberty.   The past year and a half every American’s life has been shifted around by the ever-changing views and decisions of those in charge - whether it be work, school, or the government. Please help end that cycle. As the State Motto of Alabama says “We Dare Maintain our Rights”. As students we’re calling on the University to give us BACK the RIGHT to make our own choice with our health.

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety” - Benjamin Franklin
