I am writing this petition to highlight the student body's issues during the online semester and to request that the campus is reopened. 

Network outages, power outages, and other technical issues have severely hampered our ability to grasp concepts in an online setting. Furthermore, we have missed out on an excellent opportunity to interact with our professors outside of lectures and work in the college laboratory. We have been unable to take full advantage of the incredible peer community at DAIICT, interact with and learn from our seniors and batchmates, whether it is a Data Structure or Coding problem, project work, or even non-academic stuff.

Almost the entirety of our college activities has taken place on a computer, including attending lectures, tutorials, and labs for 4-6 hours per day and completing assignments, self-learning, and lab reports for another 2.5-3.5 hours per day. As a result of our excessive screen time, most of us have experienced headaches, eye strain, and neck-back aches.

The second wave has concluded, and most of the students have been vaccinated (1 or 2 doses). The current covid cases of Gujarat are also very low. Many other colleges with hostels have also started to reopen the campus in a phased manner and are quarantining and isolating students in a covid-free bubble.

The campus has to be reopened as soon as possible and we need your help to get our concerns heard by the authorities.
