Review unfair draft clubs policy at Charles Sturt University
Charles Sturt University is undergoing change with the new club's policy. Some of the changes that affect clubs are the new rules regarding membership.
"Membership
(23)Current students of the University must constitute a minimum of 75% of student club members.
(24)Non-students may join a student club as an associate members. No more than 25% of a club’s membership can be associate members without the prior approval of the Executive Director, Student Success. "
These rules affect clubs as often members of the public and local community (for example past alumni) join clubs and are active and integral members of the clubs.
Another major concern is that affiliation, disaffiliation and conditional affiliation is at the consideration and judgement of one particular staff member.
There is also no clear requirement to explain disaffiliation or conditional affiliation and no right for students to appeal decisions made.
