The COVID-19 global pandemic has affected everyone’s lives one way or the other. These are stressful times, and those who are suffering are students trying to get an education. Most post-secondary institutions have moved all of their classes to remote online settings. Students feel they’re not getting a quality education because of this teaching method. What contributes to this is that the remote Independent learning does not fit everyone’s learning style.

Another major issue to students struggles is that Canadians pay the highest for Internet and Data in the world. Many students cannot afford to pay for high speed internet while they are getting an education. Not everyone has access too especially in Rural, Northern & Indigenous communities.

These are not normal times, the leadership of post-secondary schools in Canada need to a better job of acknowledging it. This petition is a call upon Universities Canada members to TEMPORARILY SUSPEND THE POLICY OF MAINTAINING A CUMULATIVE GPA OF A “C” OR 65% AVERAGE TO CONTINUE OR GRADUATE FOR THE 2020-2021 ACADEMIC YEAR.
