The Hunt was an upcoming FICTIONAL movie about twelve strangers who wake up in a clearing and discover they're a part of a game where humans hunt humans. It was cancelled earlier by Universal due to the President's view and because of recent gun violence crimes committed by individuals. While I am supportive of efforts that actually combat gun violence (changing gun laws, background checks, mental health evaluations, etc.), I am not in favor of suppressing the public and whoever chooses to escape reality by watching a contained movie about contained violence. And once you start cancelling or going as far to ban entertainment, it's a domino effect. It is my suggestion that instead of cancelling the release of this movie, either release it as a later date (with a release date), or simply released to streaming platforms. I don't think this is the way this situation should've been handled, and I think that if we want to combat gun violence at its source, start with the white supremacists, not the public entertainment.
