The students clearly need this. Come on Cambridge University! Care for their mental health!

This makes educational and how-humans-work sense. Plain as the nose on your face if you’re an informed and educated person. I am.

Cambridge terms, in my view, are simply too short and intensive for the amount of work we have to do. As such, I would support any extension to term length, and a reading week in particular would be a great way for people to catch up on their workload or read ahead, meaning we could all relax a little more and enjoy ourselves while we are here. If people get reading weeks at other universities, it seems completely illogical we don't have one, considering the intensity of our terms and the double-sized workload we have compared with people even at other Russel group universities. As such, I am strongly in support of this petition.

A reading week would be so beneficial! It’s crazy the terms are so short and crammed, detrimental to everyone’s health and well being

I have seen mental health impact first hand before and after university. Although I never studied at Oxbridge their intense workload is infamous. Listen to the students Cambridge. They are the ones living with this pressure.

I'm a current supervisor and ex-student - I think the introduction of a reading week would genuinely improve some of the strains on learning and teaching, leading to far better educational outcomes.

I agree that the intense terms help nobody to succeed, especially given our already heightened workload across all subjects compared to other universities.
