Free and Unlimited Wireless Internet Access for the UT Students
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
Unlike other universities where wireless internet access is unlimited, the University of Texas at Austin provides a set amount of 1 gigabyte for their students each week. Once you've reached this amount, you are automatically put onto another tier with slower wifi until your reset day, where you then start over with 1 GB. Many students find themselves unable to wait until then, with their only option being to upgrade their subscription and purchase more gigabytes. Because students use data for anything from online classes, music and video streaming, canvas, and social media, the free amount of data UT provides is used up very quickly. In my first semester at UT, I found myself having to purchase more data in order to submit my homework. In living off campus this year, I find myself having to watch my online classes and study at home, having to ration the amount of data I use in order to maintain enough to last throughout the week. In having data unlimited and free to UT students, more students like myself could afford to study and get work done on campus under the university's Resnet service.
