The saftey of a child is not a choice, it is a basic human right. In Shelby County Kentucky, the justice system has failed a 5 year old minor child. Starting over a year ago, the child was taken away from her parent. The child was given to the opposite parent who had been inactive for the first 4 years of her life. Given 7 days of temporary custody, lead to a 144 day long kidnapping and tortureous abusive (sexually and physically) nightmare. Shelby County court system proceedes to allow the accountable man who abused this child the right to custody. Within two court appointed visitations, the child had to be taken to Kosair Childrens Hospital for suspected sexual abuse which was later confirmed. After multiple attempts to protect my child, the justice system refuses to see evidence or take the proper actions to protect her. This child suffers from Post Traumatic Stress episodes that effect daily life. At the young age of only 5, this child has experienced more trauma than imaginable. From the start of this case bias assistance has caused us to recieve less than adequate protection. I am a Trangender parent who has recieved discrimination because of my identity and that should not effect my daughters basic rights to protection. I honestly feel like I have attempted every method possible to find protection for my daughter to keep her from going back to this abusive nightmare.
