Mason Theis started this petition to United States Supreme Court and

Racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

The use of many racial slurs have fed into and helped grow that prejudice and discrimination all over the country. These slurs have affected many races such as the black community, the Asian community, the Latin community, and countless others. If the Supreme Court can pass a law banning the use of these words out of non POC’s mouths, it would be a great step in the right direction for the country and the world.

When a person of color uses a slur, they are using it as a term of endearment. They are taking a word that was used out of hate against them and making it have a more positive connotation. When people who aren’t black, Asian, Latin, etc., they are feeding back into that hate that was used against them that the word originated from.

When the United States voted in favor of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, they voted yes on EVERY article and condition that came along with that paper. So, when those rights are challenged every day by bigots and racists, it should be dealt with a heavy hand.
