Bonnie Steimer started this petition to United States Social Security Administration
The cost of living has increased significantly. It was proposed that the minimum wage should increase to $15/hr. in order for an individual to not fall into the poverty level. That amount comes to $2600/month.
The average Social Security benefit is $1258/month, which leaves those recipients at poverty level. This is not providing the elderly and disabled people of the United States of America ample resources for food, housing, medications and proper care.
We, the undersigned, petition you to raise the minimum benefit to $2600/ month so those who are receiving monthly payments are properly cared for, as they so deserve.
