It is time to rewrite the Equal Rights Amendment to include sex and sexual orientation to truly protect all American men and women.

Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex or sexual orientation.

As advocates of marriage equality turn their attention to the state-by-state campaigns to alter state legislation and court cases demanding equal treatment under the law a New ERA should be part of that effort.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said: ‘Certainly the Constitution does not require discrimination on the basis of sex. The only issue is whether it prohibits it. It doesn't.' A New ERA should eliminate discrimination for men and women.

Please introduce a new version of the Equal Rights Amendment that will protect all Americans from discrimination.
