Josh Feldblyum started this petition to United States Senate and

Not for the first time, there is potential for meaningful progress in how our government responds to the electorate, and it is being stopped because one person has the power to prevent popular legislation from ever coming to the floor for a vote.  Today the problem is Mitch McConnell blocking the For the People Act, but it was someone else yesterday and it will be someone else again tomorrow.  Democracy cannot function like this.  We elect our Representatives and Senators to vote on legislation, not to prevent voting.

This petition seeks to solve this problem by encouraging a rule change in how Congress works.  Specifically, that any bill which is passed by a simple majority in one house of Congress must come to a floor vote in the other house (or its equivalent in that house be brought to a floor vote) within 30 days, or before the next recess of that house, whichever is sooner.

Everyone who signs this petition is demanding that this rule change be enacted promptly, and in perpetuity, and we will remember who supports it and who opposes it when the next election comes around.
