Sign the new petition to Rebuild the Arecibo Observatory

Dec 1, 2020 Update:

On the morning of December 1, 2020, the Arecibo Observatory's suspended platform collapsed, smashing through the telescope's dish and eliminating any chances for its repair. We have lost Puerto Rico's science icon, which held scientific, educational, economic, and cultural importance.

However, we are now petitioning the United States government to build a new radio telescope in Arecibo - a newer, more modern observatory for conducting cutting-edge research in astronomy and atmospheric sciences. The new Arecibo Observatory will support the United States' leading role in scientific innovation and inspire future generations of students and scientists.

Thank you so much for your continued support, it was immensely touching that we received such an outpour of support for this cause - we received over 37,000 signatures! We will forever be thankful for so much support and kindness.

After the telescope's collapse, a new petition was launched for the White House to Rebuild the Arecibo Observatory. We are asking that you please visit the link below to sign the petition:

Thank you so much for your support! We are hopeful for the future of what will be the new, rebuilt Arecibo Observatory.
