Families Belongs Together (H.R. 2766)

The United States has been a place for people to immigrate from their home countries for centuries, and the populations in the United States have grown over the years, America has been open to everyone, but unfortunately the United States have the issues with opening the gate for “illegal” immigrants ( even though the original America was filled with “illegal” immigrants ) for years, especially with immigrants from Central America such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvator, and etc. 

The reasons the families from Central America migrate the United States could be:

• Politics Conflict
• Job opportunities
• Fresh start for the families

Unfortunately, it was against the law to migrate to the United States illegally, which led the president at the time, Donald Trump to sign the Zero Tolerance policy, which was the result of the separation of the families. 

According to Congressional Research Services in 2018, Adults were placed in the federal criminal facilities, while they took their minor children in the care and custody of the Department of Health and Human Services and Office of Refugee Resettlement. 

According to NBS News in 2021, the incident between July 2017 to January 2021, approximately 5,400 children were separated from their families and 2,100 of those children have not reunited with their families to this day. 

Family has been the center of my values for my whole of my life. I love my family very much and this situation was unimaginable for me, and it is very heartbreaking to hear those children have not seen their families for a very long time. Every child needs their families, and being placed in the dentition would not affect them, in fact, it could be traumatizing for them. 

I have came across to this bill, that were introduced in House of Representatives on April 22, 2021 “Families Belongs Together Act” (H.R. 2766) which is more for adult illegal immigrants, and the goal of this bill is to get illegal immigrant to become a legal immigrant , which means adults illegal immigrants will get into a legal progression to become a permanent resident in the United States. 

The Families Belongs Together Act is a great start to get the family reunited, however it is still in the agenda setting progression, which means it has not stepped forward.
