Prisoners in the United States have too many luxuries

We believe that inmates in all prisons across the United States receive too many luxuries. Prisoners are sent to prison to pay for their crimes to society, and they are supposed to be punished for their actions. Prisoners in the United States receive television, video game consoles, gym time, and other luxury items. Also prisoners are fed three good quality meals a day. Prisoners also receive free education paid by taxpayers. The Vera Institute of Justice released a study in 2012 that found the aggregate cost of prisons in 2010 in the 40 states that participated was $39 billion. The annual average taxpayer cost in these states was $31,286 per inmate. It is absolutely despicable that we the people have to pay thousands of dollars for people who broke the rules of society. They're people in the United States that cant afford food, television, luxury items, or even a place to sleep. Why is it that it is better to live in prison then in society? Prisoners are given too many luxuries and there needs to something done about it. We as citizens of the United States need to fix this problem.
