How many people walk across the streets unsafely everyday? The United Stated Department of Housing and Urban Development's job is to keep urban cities safe and keep developing safer things in major cities and suburbs. How about the blind people who haven't yet received a service dog or is new to their condition? How about the people who aren't aware of how dangerous their phones are, whether it is the driver or the passerby. In 2018, there were 6,283 pedestrians killed in traffic crashes, up from 5,977 the year before, according to NHTSA, a foundation dedicated to safe crosswalking. Will this number be the same? The cause that needs to happen is for the Department of Housing and Urban Development should install little bumps at the beginning, middle, and end of every cross walk in urban cities so blind people know they are on the right track. Also, so that people looking at their phones might feel a slight difference in their pace and look up to cross. This would be an amazing start and save so many lives. By signing this petition you are helping decrease that number of 6283. How many more people do we need to die to realize that blind people and distracted walkers are dying every day from car accidents? (Picture from WeWalk foundation).
