My son was diagnosed with bipolar a year ago his 25 years old. He is out in the streets homeless in California. I leave in Texas. Is been extremely hard to get him off the streets when he does not believe his ill. We need more supported housing and efficient care.

Because 1 in 5 Americans struggle with mental health. https://www.nami.org/nami/media/nami-media/infographics/generalmhfacts.pdf
My son is one. I know that supported housing changes lives. It’s cost effective in the way it helps to provide stabilizing conditions for sensitive people and prevents a lot of unnecessary crisis intervention. Let’s make America more stabile too, by caring, providing homes, while creating a health care system plan that reduces crisis costs. Thank you.

My family has history of mental illness. The family members would have benefitted from living in the right environment. An environment of caring, understanding, and encouragement. Unfortunately, my son passed away. My brother is now too set in his ways. There are far too many individuals with these diseases who could benefit with a more normal life style. They need assistance. They need homes. They need much more than family members are able to provide.
Thank you!

I am a parent with a child who was abused by the system in more ways than one.!Being a voice for those who are silenced due to being misunderstood/or misdiagnosed is critical for awareness and change.!!

I know mentally ill people who are unable to obtain treatment and other services they absolutely need. It's outrageous that we treat ill people--and their families--this way. It's a giant blot on our whole society and a waste of human potential to throw people away as we increasingly do.
