Consider using licensed dental professionals to support hospital physicians and nurses!

Due to this recent health crisis, hospital all around the US are being and will continue to be flooded by an overwhelming amount of patients creating more stress and a shortage in physicians, nurses, and other hospital staffs.

On the other end, in the dental field, thousands of licensed professionals are basically out of job (with the hope of it being just a temporary situation).

As hospitals are getting overwhelmed with the current flow of patients, hospital workers may become exhausted or they could become ill themselves and require some time off.

Dentists and dental hygienists do possess basic medical knowledge and often work with patient physicians in order to provide a complete care for the patients they see. After all, most dentists take the same pre-requesite courses as physicians and most Dental Hygienists have a degree in applied science. We are part of the healthcare workforce (although we may at times be overlooked).

In this dire time, when our hospital workers are possibly overworked, why not consider deploying licensed dental professionals to our hospital to help with screenings and basic tasks within their skill sets and reserving the skills of our doctors and nurses for more important and specialized care.

I'm not saying that everyone will be willing or able to help but with over 150,000 Dental Hygienists and over 200,000 Dentist in United States, I'm sure you may find a lot of helping hands.

May we all try to stay safe and hopefully we will get through this soon!
