I was a USMC Captain and want the most qualified persons to get the job done, without any regard to their gender. A penis or vagina in any job, civilian or military, should ever be a qualifying factor.
Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, "She doesn't have what it takes." They will say, "Women don't have what it takes." ~Clare Boothe Luce
I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a door mat or a prostitute. ~Rebecca West, "Mr Chesterton in Hysterics: A Study in Prejudice," The Clarion, 1913 November 14th, reprinted in The Young Rebecca, 1982
Women have been taught that, for us, the earth is flat, and that if we venture out, we will fall off the edge. ~Andrea Dworkin
The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, "It's a girl." ~Shirley Chisholm
I believe that men and women should be allowed to serve in whatever positions they are qualified for. If a man is qualified to be a preschool teacher and desires the position, then he should be allowed to do it. If a woman is qualified, and desires, to fight in combat, then she should be allowed. Personally, I want to serve my country in combat, but I will not take that position unless I am qualified. I do not desire a free ride, I desire a chance to prove my capabilities just like every soldier.
