Dear Mr Summers,

The program to distribute boxes of food from farmers to families in need is admirable, but it is a shocking misuse of federal funds and federal power to require them to include a letter from Mr. Trump.  The letter starts out by claiming that the "health and well-being of our citizens is one of my highest priorities", which is completely untrue as Mr Trump continuously likens Covid 19 to the flu, and has a complete disregard for the simplest of safeguards, masks, for people around him.

This latest abuse of taxpayer dollars and presidential power is similar to when Mr. Trump delayed sending the stimulus checks to millions of Americans in April so that they would show his signature, and it would appear that he was personally responsible, despite the fact that congress approved the money.   The fact that Trump routinely uses the hardship of Americans for his own political gain is truly unnerving.  

Although it might be hard to prove the letter goes against the Hatch act, by including the letter in the food boxes, Mr Trump is obviously trying to get credit for this program, and use it to improve his political ratings.  The fact that this letter was only mandated recently and not from the outset is a clear indication of how the Trump campaign is using this program for personal and political gain. 

I am sending this letter to petition that the letters be removed from the food aid boxes for all the reasons mentioned above.  The USDA should not be used for political gain.
