Approve federal grants for farmers who legally use medicinal cannabis

Federal grant monies designated to encourage and support urban agriculture are being denied to farmers who legally use medicinal cannabis for their disabilities. After spending a great deal of time meeting with representatives and preparing land for a proposed green house, my application was denied in the 11th hour because I use cannabis to treat chronic pain associated with a childhood injury. Cannabis is just one of the crops I grow on my farm and I was fully transparent with representatives and assured them I would only be growing conventional crops in the federally funded structure to be erected on lots not adjacent to my cannabis gardens. Well intentioned farmers should not be denied federal funding based on the kind of medicine they use. The USDA is mandated not to discriminate based upon disabilities but that is exactly what is happening. Please support this petition and demand an update to their contracting manual, Subpart B, part 512.10, F to support ALL people interested in expanding our local food supply.
