STOP the senseless isolation of our sick and elderly!

STOP the senseless isolation of our sick and elderly!
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become crystal clear that the U.S. healthcare system was not prepared for this global health crisis. Patients were forced to be alone, moms were forced to give birth alone, kids were separated from their parents, elderly nursing home residents slipped into depression as they were kept from visiting with loved ones, patients were hospitalized and barred from having any visitors (even patients and family that tested negative for COVID), and patients senselessly died alone.
It's not right. It's not humane.
Patients shouldn't face medical procedures alone.
Patients NEED loved ones for physical, emotional, and mental support. Patients NEED advocates who are a second set of eyes and ears... especially if they're incapacitated.
Yes, we need to protect the doctors, nurses, staff, and other patients ... but there's a balance of protecting them, while also giving the individual what they need and by in large the American healthcare system failed.
What we need is comprehensive legislation to ensure that (1) we have the necessary PPEs stockpiled and (2) patients have the RIGHT to one screened visitor per day (no time limits) ... no matter the pandemic.
