Because I know my history and that Colombus is not the person we should celebrate for. He did horrible things to natives and girls. Change it!

It's a national disgrace that we continue to celebrate this war criminal and barbarian as a national hero.

As an early and nineteenth-century American literature teacher, I want to emphasize to my students the role Columbus holds historically, and to encourage more interdisciplinary educational opportunities that the topic "exploration" provides.

Columbus was a genocidal imperialist and should not be honored with a Day.

Let's face it, by naming it Columbus Day you are having millions of school children celebrate in his name. He was not a role model, he was a murder and a bad navigator (Intended to go to Asia). I think Exploration Day is a much broader concept and encompasses a lot more great things than just one man.

Columbus was a murderous plunderer of the Native American People....This day is no longer relevant to an informed society.
