End Descrimination Against Divorced Dad's In America's Courts
This petition had 4 supporters
In post marital courts across America, it is understood and generally accepted as status quo that Fathers and former Husband's do not have the same rights as Mothers and former Wives. The phrase 'It's cheaper to keep her' is frequently coined as a joke. Archaic laws and a long-dated mindset, each designed to protect Americans from abuse, jointly serve to allow abuse of citizens' rights to earn a living and know their children. Often, the decisions in our family courts leave little room for Husbands and Fathers to do either, leaving many with financial, legal and personal issues that are taxing physically and psychologically, seemingly in the interest of fairness but leaving many behind, labeled as Deadbeats when they are really just beat dead by a system rife with loopholes and the angry former spouses who seek to exploit them for financial gain and the ruined reputation of the other party. Federal guidelines are required to create a more even playing field across all states, to limit post marital cases to one jurisdiction, to educate officers of the court to keep vindictiveness and revenge out of the system, and to treat all citizens with respect and dignity. Only with federal legislation that sets a standard by which states must comply when determining these decisions can we achieve a gender-neutral system that serves all citizens equally. Please, if this issue is important to you, sign my petition, write to your representative in Congress, and let your voice be heard.
