Allow unmarried partners to enter united states during covid restrictions
Why this petition matters
My fiance is a German citizen. She left the U.S. in April 2020 to be with her mother in Germany who was alone during the COVID crisis. We met at Pace University School of law in September 2017 and have been together ever since. We got engaged in August 2019.
Recently Germany began allowing unmarried couples to visit with proof of the relationship, proof of living together, and require 14 day quarantine or quarantine until results for a COVID test are received. I was able to visit without incident but she should be allowed to visit me as well. It is inhumane to keep us apart as we wish not to get married until we can hold a ceremony with both our families present. I know there are millions of couples experiencing this dilemma.
I ask that you make a travel exception for unmarried couples who can provide proof of their relationship.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
