Lucinda Lavelle started this petition to United Nations

In April 2019 a rogue militia leader from Eastern Libya called Khalifa Haftar launched an assault on the capital city in the West,Tripoli, during which thousands died, were wounded, were kidnapped and many tortured to death. Hundreds of thousands were displaced and homeless. The assault ended in a ceasefire ratified by the UN in January 2020 at the Berlin conference, although it didn't really end the violence until June 2020 when with the help of Turkey, Haftar's militias and mercenaries were beaten back to Sirte, a city to the East of Tripoli.

During this time Aguila Saleh Issa, president and speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, and Head of the Libyan Army, openly supported Haftar, prolonging the conflict and leading to many deaths of civilians and fighters defending the Tripoli.

Now the UN mission in Libya has facilitated Aguila Saleh's candidacy to stand for president of Libya, a slap across the face for all those terrorised during the seige.    This petition is raised to reject this candidacy and demand justice for the Libyan people and for the UN to withdraw their support of Aguila Saleh Islam going forward.
