We call for international observers to supervise the Catalan parlamentary elections

These elections have been called by the Spanish government who has previously suspended, put into jail or forced into exile the Catalan government and its members. All this has been done in conditions of dubious legality, as proved by the withdrawal by the Spanish government of the European detention order againts Carles Puigdemont, the Catalan President.
Hence, the elections’ campaign will be fought on unequal terms, not forgetting the biaised attitude and plain disinformation, as many examples attest, of the Spanish media in general against the Catalan independence process.
The Spanish government is the one that will directly assume and supervise these elections and the ballot counting procedure. In these circumstances we fear that, if needed, the Madrid government will cheat and bend the results according to their interests.
This is why we call for the presence of international UN observers to supervise and guarantee the fairness of these elections.
