The people of Palestine are facing the annexation of their territory by the state of Israel. This is in addition to the theft of their territory by illegal Israeli settlers. The move is supported by the United States. The annexation is illegal under International Law.

Article 49, paragraph 6 of the 1949 Geneva Convention IV says, “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.”

Article 85(4)(a) of the 1977 Additional Protocol I adds that by the transfer the Occupying Power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies” is a serious breach of the protocol.

Article 8(2)(b)(viii) of the 1998 Statute of the International Criminal Court states that “[t]he transfer, directly or indirectly, by the Occupying Power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies” is a war crime.

United States policy is to endorse the violation of international law. Only a few weeks ago President Trump announced that the US considers all Israeli settlements in the West Bank not to be illegal.

EU policy on Israeli settlements “is clear and remains unchanged: all settlement activity is illegal under international law and it erodes the viability of the two-state solution and the prospects for a lasting peace.”  Federica Mogherini, the European Union’s foreign policy chief.

The signers petition the United Nations to send an armed force to Palestine to protect the people of Palestine and their territory, and remove the illegal Israeli settlers from the Palestinian territory.
