Stop Violence Against Students in Bangladesh

Students, many of who are under 18 are beaten up, harassed and molested by terrorists in Dhaka, Capital of Bangladesh.

School/College students have taken the road protesting poor road safety, followed by the deaths of 2 students by Bus. Their demand is improved road safety, tougher laws, better accountability and end to a system of corruption. Their demands have been ignored by the government; further outrage was caused by controversial comments made by Ministers and closure of schools across the country in an attempt to end the protest.

The students have been setting great examples of road safety management in a peaceful manner throughout the country.

What is Happening now

This peaceful protest is now being handled with ruthless violence by terrorists who are allegedly members of Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL), the ruling party's student arm. News, images, and videos have been pouring since yesterday of these alleged BCL men armed with sticks, guns and other weapons attacking students, many of who are children.  At least 150 people -- students, their parents,  pedestrians, and journalists were wounded; about 20 sustained serious injuries. There has also been rumor of girls being abducted and sexually assaulted.

These students are getting little if any help/protection of the law enforcement agencies.

We demand that international diplomatic efforts are made to stop these atrocities against school going students.
