The Kurdish people and Kurdish government have long been a depressors of the Assyrian community.

The Assyrians are the original or indigenous people of Assyria/modern day Iraq and parts of Turkey, Syria and Iran.

We are often referred to as “Iraqi Christians.”

Time and time again we have been ignored by the world to be given the right to a safe haven land in northern Iraq where our last capital city was Nineveh/Mosul.

We have been refused time and time again, even though we are the original inhabitants.

To our surprise, the Kurdish people were given arms and somehow got a hold of northern Iraq and have now claimed this land as their own even though they have no cultural roots to the land at all.

As if this was not a slap in the face, they are oppressing Assyrian people (again) though they act they they are “protectors” - we hear all the real stories from relatives still there.

Recently they have been determined to steal the Assyrian identity, as to claim that they are the original inhabitants of the land. Posting in journals and posting propaganda on social media and reports that they are Assyrian and trying to rewrite Assyrian history and put archaeological artifacts as “Kurdish culture.”

As if the Assyrian people have not lost enough, now how history is being re-written.

We demand that firstly the Kurdish government and its people stop making a connection between them and the Assyrian people today, and to our ancient history and artifacts.

We demand the Kurdish government and its people stop digging Assyrian/Semitic archaeological sites or write any article regarding Assyrian history.

We demand finally for you to give us what is rightfully ours. A safe haven for our people to live free of religious and ethnic persecution. Please stick to your promise made 100 years ago.

The Assyrian people deserve your help.
