On 14 February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora (near Awantipora) in the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The attack resulted in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. Several other CRPF personnel were wounded.

The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed, led by Masood Azhar. He has also been linked to a number of other terrorist incidents across the world.

Jaish-e-Mohammed has been designated a terrorist organisation by the UN. India has been repeatedly trying to put Masood Azhar on the United Nations Security Council's counter-terrorism sanctions list, which would freeze his funds and prohibit him from international travel.

However, this move has repeatedly been blocked (vetoed) by China. China also blocked the United States of America's move to get Masood Azhar banned by UN in February 2017.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Please sign this petition addressed to the United Nations Security Council and India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to continue all diplomatic efforts to declare Masood Azhar a terrorist and place him on the United Nations Security Council's counter-terrorism sanctions list.
