The truth in advertising

The truth in advertising.

Big business has infiltrated social media by paying bloggers and celebrities to post their 'authentic moments' of the company's products or services. Big business has become the invisible government of our youth by promising a lifestyle of being accepted, popular and envied in exchange for purchasing the latest product.

Bloggers daily post this 'promise' to millions, especially children; The line between fantasy and reality is cleverly merged and children see this false advertising as real.

Daily parents teach their children one thing and daily the embedded messages of social media, and catchy ad tunes teach them the complete opposite.

On top of that, small business innovation, quality and authenticity is completely devalued, and thwarted.

A pandemic is unfolding right in front of us ─ SEES World has joined the dots and made the link between big business false advertising and how it is the source of civil war, rising job losses, social inequality, debt, poverty, slavery, crime, disengaged youth, broken homes and global warming.

SEES World is a not-for-profit standing up for the people, against the daily assault of big business false advertising. And SEES World has identified this pandemic ─ the direct correlation between the increase in advertising revenue of social media, and the decrease in people's quality-of-life. This is the single, biggest threat that humanity faces.

Governments and world leaders do nothing to stop this manipulative daily dance ─ they are in bed with big business.

Examples of big business false advertising:

COMMONWEALTH BANK  you CAN

WOOLWORTHS  Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday I love you!

ANZ  we live in your world

OLD MUTUAL  financial shelter and nourishment to people and businesses

NESPRESSO  Nespresso, what else?

COCA-COLA  refresh the world, inspire moments of optimism and happiness, create value and make a difference

CHANEL  where beauty begins

FACEBOOK and GOOGLE to name a few.

We put our trust in big business, and big business seizes this opportunity to feed that trust for their own benefit.  This is a crime, albeit a silent one operating under the radar. This is a crime against humanity, and in violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ─ specifically Articles 12 and 1.

Article 12: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

Article 1: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Companies like Facebook, for example, use two very powerful incentives to draw in individuals: 1. Exploiting our need to connect with family and friends on a relatively user-friendly platform, and 2. No upfront fee-for-service, thus making it 'FREE'. These two draw-cards are deliberately employed with one explicit goal in mind ─ to ensnare every user, especially children and our youth, and hence diminishing every real value instilled by their parents.

The way that big business operates is worse than the more obvious criminals like drug dealers and murderers because there is no second-guessing what the latter does.  Big business false advertising, however, hides behind the 'creativity' that is their ad campaigns, and political hobnobbing.

WHAT IS SEES WORLD ┃Social Economic Environmental Sustainability?

SEES World is a not-for-profit standing up for the people, against the daily assault of big business false advertising. And SEES World has identified this pandemic ─ the direct correlation between the increase in advertising revenue of social media, and the decrease in people's quality-of-life. This is the single biggest threat humanity faces.

WHAT WOULD YOUR SIGNATURE DO?

SEES World has a simple execution strategy based on international and commercial law, starting with the petitioning of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to prosecute companies who daily break International Law ─ Articles 12 and 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We can no longer look the other way. The United Nations can no longer act with impunity. We are asking Mr Ban Ki-moon to apply the UN's Human Rights Law, and prosecute these companies in the International Court of Justice, for crimes against humanity ─ against you!  One voice can easily be ignored, but the echo of a thousand...two hundred thousand or more voices, is hard to mute. It is after all, in line with the UN motto that "It's your world".

Big business false advertising artificially inflates the value of or need for a product and service, simply to highlight that we are not good enough, and therefore drives us to compulsive consumption ─ to satiate a need that initially we never even had or knew that we had. And all for a grab-and-run kind of profit that stands to benefit only 1% of the population, and then only short-term.

We need profit ─ for the people, the economy and the planet, but we need sustainable profit.

One thing.

First up, there is one thing that needs to happen now in order to stop this duplicity.

One thing to lead us into a healthier form of capitalism, in which everyone benefits.

And that one thing is taking false advertising from a civil to a criminal offence.

This is key because immediately there is accountability.

And a natural transition to authenticity which becomes the new standard for business, and the new goalpost for the people.

This is our only chance of collectively creating a SEES World ─ a world of social, economic and environmental sustainability.

SEES World is not a cause but a way of life ─ a way of life that can be successfully sustained and that benefits everyone.

This petition is an opportunity for all of us to make our mark.

It is something that affects everyone ─ you, me, our children, grandchildren, our friends, neighbours, family ─ whole communities right here, and the world over.
