Save the Rohingya

The Rohingya are facing genocide. Their villages are attacked and they are killed indiscriminately.

A study by the International State Crime Initiative... report enumerates how the Rohingya have undergone the first four stages — stigmatization and dehumanization; harassment, violence and terror; isolation and segregation; systematic weakening — and are on the verge of “mass annihilation.” The sixth stage, which involves the “removal of the victim group from collective history,” is already under way in many

The Rohingya people are considered “stateless entities”, as the Myanmar government has been refusing to recognise them as one of the ethnic groups of the country. For this reason, the Rohingya people lack legal protection from the Government of Myanmar, are regarded as mere refugees from Bangladesh, and face strong hostility in the country—often described as one of the most persecuted people on earth. here

As stateless people, they are not under the protection of any government body and are at the mercy of the Myanmar government. ASEAN is unable to do anything due to their policy of non interference.

We, citizens of the world, hear their plight and wish that the world body intervene and prevent the Rohingya from being wiped out from the face of the planet.

We make a stand and show the world: might is not right; we make a stand for humanity. We stand for justice for all mankind. Every person must know that someone else from another part of this planet cares for their existence, their lives. We, as citizens of the world, cannot turn a blind eye to our brothers and sisters who cry out for help.

How can we sleep at night, knowing that we turn our backs to people who need us, knowing that one day, others would turn their backs to us when we need help in our hour of need since we would have set the bar so low.

If we ignore their plight, we do not just let the Rohingya down.

We have let humanity down.
