Rename the South China Sea

In recent years, tensions between China and smaller nations from Southeast Asia have escalated as a result of aggressive territorial claims by the Chinese government in the South China Sea. Specifically, the 9-dash line submitted by China in 2009 encompassing the entirety of the South China Sea, has been a point of debate among the different parties. These claims and the exercise of control in the region through the use of intimidation are detrimental to smaller nations in the region. The impacts include not only socio-political tension but also inhibition of economic growth.  Having a name that reflects the current dynamic only further perpetuates the imbalance in power in the region. This is why this petition exists. I propose that the body of water be renamed "The Southeast Asia Sea." Although it may be one small and seemingly insignificant step, it is, nevertheless, a step towards ensuring friendly relations and mutual developments between nations.
