Kashmir Conflict--A nuclear Flash-Point, that can prove catastrophic for the whole world.

Jammu and Kashmir was an Independent State when India and Pakistan Gained their Independence in 1947. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the popular leader of Muslim Majority State of Jammu and Kashmir had no desire to join either of them. He wanted to remain Independent. Alas the Maharaja, Hindu ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, had decided otherwise . He wanted to Join India. The rumours about the decision of Maharaja started to flow in Kashmir and there was an armed rebellion supported by tribals of Pakistan Against the Maharaja. The Maharaja requested for armed assistance from India. On 27th of October 1947, India sent its troops to Kashmir. Pakistan also Invaded kashmir from other side. A war followed known as the Indo-pak war of 1947. Both countries since their independence have fought three major wars and dozens of mini-war like skirmishes over Kashmir. India today administers about 43% of Kashmir, Pakistan administers 37% of it and China has control over the remaining part of Kashmir. According to scholars, Indian forces have committed many human rights abuses and acts of terror against Kashmiri civilian population including extrajudicial killing, rape, torture and enforced disappearances. The conflict has taken about 100 Thousand kashmiri lives since its inception. Crimes by militants have also happened but are not comparable in scale with the crimes of Indian forces. According to Amnesty International, as of June 2015, no member of the Indian military deployed in Jammu and Kashmir has been tried for human rights violations in a civilian court. Kashmiris say that accession to India was provisional, and conditional on a plebiscite which was promised by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru. The details about human rights violations in Pakistan Administered Kashmir are also there but the rights activists have agreed that they are not grave to the degree as they are in Indian Administered Kashmir. Tensions between the two countries recently rose after "Pulwama Attack" In which a Kashmiri suicide bomber killed more the 45 Indian Central Police Force men. The Tensions escalated almost to the brink of a full nuclear war which was witnessed by the whole world. However good sense prevailed which may not happen "The Next Time!"
