We are shocked that on Dec 2,2020 United Nations Commission on Narcotic drugs (CND) accepted a recommendation from World Health Organization(WHO) to remove cannabis and cannabis resin from schedule IV of 1961 single convention on narcotic drugs. Out of 53 countries (member states) of the CND who voted for removal of cannabis and cannabis resin from schedule IV of 1961. 27 countries including India have voted for rescheduling.

This Rescheduling will cause a big health disaster for all countries including India. The stated reason is that cannabis is used for medical research to treat diseases.

The health impact of cannabis (https://www.cdc.gov/marijuana/health-effects.html/) is that it affects  brain health, cancer, chronic pain, heart health, lung health, mental health and greater risk of poisoning.

But in India we are using cannabis (marijuana) to treat the cancer patient in the last stages for lowering the pain and that seems to be the only medicinal use.

According to NDPS Act, 1985 of India, cannabis is considered as a dangerous drug.

As we couldn't stop the free flow of cannabis in the black market, the wide spread use of cannabis (even among children) causes threat for criminal activities in the society and also it’s leading to violence on women and children.

In order to prevent the danger to health and violence, please ensure the supporting vote to to retain the Cannabis in the Dangerous Drugs List.
