For as long as Facebook has been around, users of the said platform have been victims of cyberbullying within the same virtual venue.
The community standards and policies theoretically should protect the billions of users of the service but whenever a report is sent to the Facebook management, they dismiss it as non- violations. How many people have been ridiculed online? How many accounts have been suspended and disabled on the account of fallacious reports? How many people have hurt themselves because of the amount of bullying they have been subjected to? And all Facebook did was to tell them that such posts reported have not in any way violated the community standards.
Facebook earns revenue from the users of the service. Because there are billions of users who can view advertisements on it, they can offer marketing services at a premium rate. In a nutshell, they monetize marketing online by effectively leveraging on the number of users on the platform daily. Unfortunately, this translates to as many users who can weaponize the same to hurt people.
