                     Appeal of Eritrean Refugees
As a result of PFDJ regime led by dictator Isaias Afwerki, hundreds of thousands of Eritrean citizens have fled the country and become refugees over the past 27 years. At present, over 100,000 of these Eritrean refugees reside in refugee camps in Ethiopia, 96,000 of those in the Tigray region, in addition to large numbers of Eritreans living in various cities throughout Ethiopia.
Eritrean refugees residing in Tigray and elsewhere in Ethiopia are exposed to great dangers in the midst of the current violence and have no access to proper shelter or safety protocols. Necessities such as food and health supplies, limited even prior to the outbreak of violence, have run out due to the country’s ongoing civil war. The conflict makes it impossible for humanitarian groups to provide food and other necessities and has prompted many aid workers to leave the territory altogether. The reality for Eritrean refugees is bleak and starvation is not far off.
Beyond the humanitarian crisis created by the war, Eritrean refugees’ prospects are further complicated by the involvement of the Eritrean Defense Forces in the conflict. Sources inside both Ethiopia and Eritrea report that Eritrean troops have been involved in the war,  raising fears among Eritrean refugees that they could forcibly be returned to Eritrea, where they would be regarded as political dissidents and imprisoned, tortured, or killed. Already, reports have begun to emerge about Eritrean refugees missing from the refugee camps in Ethiopia, who could potentially having been kidnapped and returned to Eritrea.
In light of this distressing information, we call upon all international humanitarian organizations and the international community  to act swiftly.
First, humanitarian aid must be provided to those refugees caught up in the conflict between the Tigrai regional government and the Ethiopian central government. Second, an investigation must be conducted into the possible kidnapping and return of Eritrean refugees to Eritrea in the midst of war.
we call on all international bodies to rise to the occasion and assist our vulnerable Eritrean sisters and brothers in their time of need.
We call upon all Eritreans to sign this petition
