Hi! My name is Mariam and i am a 20 year old Nigerian girl, living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I am in my 2nd year at the University of Winnipeg.
Do you know that in Nigeria, 43% of girls are married off before their 18th birthday.
17% are married before they turn 15? (girls not child brides, 2016).There are varying disadvantages to the girl child marriage. Envuladu et al., (2016) found that about
60% of the married participants had pregnancy related health complication and 82%
had to suspend their education.
I consider myself lucky to be born in a family, where i am able to make a own decision to get an education. It is my dream that every Nigerian girl-child is able to make this decision.
Please sign this petition, help be an advocate for the Nigerian girl-child.
